Omaha’s Children’s Museum Plans New Building Near RiverFront

Omaha’s Children’s Museum is set to build a new facility, announced just over a month ago in collaboration with nonprofit Heritage Omaha and Mayor Jean Stothert.

The new building will be located at 8th and Douglas streets, next to Omaha’s Heartland of America Park at The RiverFront.

Adriana Rodriguez, Community Engagement and Outreach Director, emphasized the positive impact the new space will have on the community. “We will be able to serve more families in our community and also be able to provide additional programming, activities, new exhibits and so more opportunities for our community partners to also provide trainings at our museum,” said Rodriguez.

As part of the planning process, the museum is now inviting the community to fill out a survey to offer ideas for new exhibits and programming improvements.

Along with the new museum, a residential complex called “The Beam” and a new parking garage are being constructed to support the growing downtown area.

While construction is underway, the Omaha Children’s Museum will continue to operate at its current location. The new museum space is expected to be completed by 2027.
