PLEASANTON — Pleasanton Public Schools is reminding students, staff, and community members about important changes due to ongoing construction at the district’s schools.
The district recently broke ground on a renovation and new addition project approved by voters through a bond election earlier this year. The project is designed to address long-standing space concerns, expand classroom capacity, and improve learning environments across both the elementary and high school levels.
“We know this is an inconvenience, and we appreciate your flexibility and patience as we improve our facilities for students and staff,” the district said. “If you see any issues we might have overlooked, please reach out to the Superintendent’s Office or your building principal.”
Expanded classrooms will allow for two separate tracks of math, science, English, and social studies at the high school, and additional unit and specialist classes at the elementary level. This expansion is expected to enhance educational offerings and reduce overcrowding.
The district highlighted two key dates for construction milestones:
During these phases, parking will be impacted:
The district will continue to provide parking maps and updates as fencing and work zones are finalized.
In addition, the playground area will be closed starting Oct. 13 for safety reasons and will remain closed throughout the construction project, likely reopening after Christmas.
“The playground will not be available during activities,” the district noted, emphasizing safety as a top priority.
The fire evacuation area will also be temporarily relocated to the west side of the school during the first phase of construction. Staff and students will be briefed on the updated safety procedures by the district safety committee.
Construction is expected to continue through multiple phases, but district officials stressed that the upgrades are essential to accommodate current and future student needs while providing modernized educational spaces.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to provide improved facilities for students and staff,” the district said.
The Pleasanton Public Schools administration encourages families and community members to stay informed through regular updates from the Superintendent’s Office and building principals as the project progresses.
