Attentive.ai, the Wilmington-based software firm behind Beam AI, announced it has raised $30.5 million in Series B funding, marking a major milestone in the race to modernize preconstruction workflows with artificial intelligence. The round was led by global software investor Insight Partners, with additional participation from Vertex Ventures, Tenacity Ventures, and InfoEdge Venture Fund, bringing the company’s total funding to $48 million.

The new investment arrives at a time when the construction industry is under unprecedented pressure. Industrial megaprojects, data centers, and infrastructure rollouts are accelerating across the U.S., but many preconstruction tasks — particularly takeoffs, estimating, and bid preparation — remain heavily manual. This gap between industry demand and legacy workflows is the opportunity Attentive.ai seeks to close.

AI as the new backbone of preconstruction

Attentive.ai’s flagship product, Beam AI, provides fully automated takeoffs supported by a human-in-the-loop review process that helps estimators finish work faster, with greater accuracy and without adding staff. The platform is used by more than 1,100 construction companies, including general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers across major trades and outdoor services.

Beam AI automates material quantification, plan analysis, and measurement tasks that traditionally take hours per project, allowing companies to increase bid volume, sharpen strategy, and improve win rates. Its workflow is designed to eliminate spreadsheet-heavy processes and integrate directly into estimating and bidding operations.

With the Series B investment, Attentive.ai plans to expand Beam AI beyond takeoffs — pushing deeper into full-cycle estimating, bid management, proposal workflows, and team collaboration. The goal is to create a unified, AI-native preconstruction ecosystem that streamlines every step before a shovel hits the ground.

Leadership voices: accelerating an AI-powered future

“Our mission is to be the most trusted preconstruction platform,” said Shiva Dhawan, Co-Founder and CEO of Attentive.ai. “With this funding, we’re accelerating our AI model development and product innovation across the entire preconstruction lifecycle, from takeoffs and estimating to bidding and collaboration. We’re building the foundation that will power the next decade of growth in construction.”

Insight Partners said it sees Attentive.ai as a breakout leader in machine learning for construction, particularly as large firms seek scalable, repeatable, and accurate workflows to support megaprojects.

"Attentive has established itself as a clear category leader in AI-driven construction takeoffs,” said Nikitas Koutoupes, Managing Director at Insight Partners. “Its combination of advanced AI with human-in-the-loop QA delivers immediate ROI—helping customers save time, bid faster, win more projects, and boost productivity. What truly stands out is the team’s product vision, customer-centric approach, and strong founder leadership. We’re thrilled to partner with Attentive on this next phase of growth."

Expanding into a rapidly shifting construction landscape

The funding comes amid a broader surge in investment in construction tech, driven by the rising complexity of megaprojects, labor shortages, and the need for faster, more accurate preconstruction decisions. With AI already reshaping design, scheduling, and project management, Attentive.ai is positioning itself as a critical infrastructure layer for early-stage planning and estimation.

Industry analysts note that preconstruction AI could become one of the most impactful segments of the built-world technology ecosystem — especially as contractors adapt to higher project volumes, shorter timelines, and leaner teams.

Attentive.ai also plans to expand its geographic reach and push Beam AI into new market verticals, supporting both self-perform contractors and suppliers who need scalable automated workflows to handle high-volume bid cycles.
