A new hospital campus is moving into construction in Boulder County, Colorado, as AdventHealth expands healthcare infrastructure to serve Louisville and surrounding communities. The project will replace the current hospital's role as a key regional care provider with a larger facility designed to accommodate future demand.
AdventHealth broke ground on AdventHealth Louisville on Oct. 14, 2026. The development will occupy 40 acres within Redtail Ridge, near the U.S. 36 and Northwest Parkway interchange. The location provides highway access and space for a campus intended to support long-term healthcare needs.
The planned hospital will encompass 375,000 square feet and include up to 150 beds, with flexibility for expansion as demand changes. The opening is scheduled for the first quarter of 2029.
The new location is intended to improve access to emergency services for residents across the surrounding region. AdventHealth estimates that the hospital will reduce travel times to emergency care for a substantially larger population, with more than 400,000 people expected to benefit from shorter drives.
The campus design also incorporates lessons from the Marshall Fire, including multiple entry points and improved accessibility to support the safety of patients, visitors and staff.
As part of its collaboration with the City of Louisville, AdventHealth has designated 7.5 acres of the existing Avista campus as protected open space. The health system is also evaluating future uses for the existing property, where outpatient services are expected to remain in the near term.
AdventHealth is working with ADAMS, SmithGroup, WSP, Kimley-Horn and Turner FH Joint Venture on the new hospital campus. Detailed construction costs and individual contract values were not disclosed in the announcement.
The project adds a major healthcare facility to the Louisville area, combining inpatient capacity, emergency services and a site layout designed to accommodate future growth. Its multiyear delivery schedule will require coordination among the health system, design professionals and construction partners.
Why It Matters
The 375,000-square-foot hospital represents a significant investment in healthcare infrastructure for Boulder County. For construction contractors and project owners, the development highlights the scale and coordination involved in delivering large healthcare campuses, where patient access, emergency circulation, safety and long-term expansion requirements influence site planning and facility design.
