Growing demand for energy-efficient cooling systems is driving a major manufacturing investment in Fort Worth, where Carrier plans to develop a new advanced manufacturing and engineering facility. The project will expand domestic production capacity for commercial heating, ventilation and air conditioning technologies while supporting demand across data centres, healthcare, education and industrial markets.
The investment comes as Carrier reports strong demand for its commercial HVAC business, supported by a record backlog and a growing project pipeline. The new centre is intended to strengthen the company's ability to deliver advanced climate and energy solutions to customers across the United States.
The planned facility will cover more than 1 million square feet and is expected to begin operations in 2027. Carrier expects the investment to generate 1,500 jobs in advanced manufacturing, engineering and related functions.
The centre will manufacture advanced thermal management equipment, including air-cooled and water-cooled commercial chillers. These systems are used in buildings and industrial facilities that require reliable, energy-efficient cooling, including data centres and healthcare facilities.
Fort Worth's skilled workforce, established manufacturing base and transportation connections were key factors in the location decision. The project will also include engineering laboratories and partnerships with local schools and colleges to develop the next generation of manufacturing and engineering workers.
Carrier expects the facility to pursue LEED certification as part of its sustainability commitments. The project also aligns with growing demand for energy-efficient building systems and specialised cooling technologies, particularly as data centres and other energy-intensive facilities expand.
The development will add to the manufacturing activity around AllianceTexas, a major business and logistics hub in the Fort Worth region. The investment is expected to support local employment while strengthening links among manufacturers, educational institutions and workforce training organisations.
The project represents a significant investment in industrial construction and advanced manufacturing infrastructure. A facility exceeding 1 million square feet, with specialised engineering spaces and production capabilities, will require coordinated planning across building systems, utilities, equipment installation and workforce readiness.
For construction owners and contractors, Carrier's investment also signals continued demand for large industrial facilities and high-performance cooling systems. The expected LEED certification target and emphasis on advanced thermal management highlight opportunities tied to sustainable building design and the infrastructure needed to support expanding data centre and industrial markets.
