Expanding local production capacity can give road contractors greater access to materials as transportation investment and private development increase across growing Sunbelt markets. Construction Partners, Inc. has expanded its Texas operations through the acquisition of the asphalt manufacturing and construction assets of J.H. Strain & Sons Inc., based in Tye, Texas.
The transaction adds two hot-mix asphalt plants, construction crews and equipment serving the greater Abilene market. The acquired operations will become part of Construction Partners’ Texas platform, Lone Star Paving.
The acquisition also brings more than 125 employees into Lone Star Paving, expanding its workforce and local operating capacity.
Abilene has experienced continued infrastructure and development activity, including investment associated with data center projects. The acquisition gives Lone Star Paving an established operating base from which to pursue public and private infrastructure work in Abilene and across West Texas.
Construction Partners operates as a vertically integrated civil infrastructure contractor, supported by asphalt plants, aggregate facilities and liquid asphalt terminals. Its work includes roadway construction and maintenance as well as paving and sitework for private developments.
The company operates across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
The addition of J.H. Strain’s production facilities expands Construction Partners’ ability to manufacture and supply hot-mix asphalt within the Abilene region. The local production footprint can support roadway, paving and sitework projects across the market while adding crews and equipment to the Texas platform.
The acquisition continues Construction Partners’ strategy of building vertically integrated operations in local markets throughout the Sunbelt.
Additional asphalt production capacity can help contractors serve expanding roadway and development markets while maintaining greater control over material supply. Construction Partners’ Abilene acquisition strengthens its Texas footprint and adds production assets and experienced personnel in a growing West Texas market.
