Mechanical contractors working the I-75 corridor and Atlanta’s industrial base have a new, well-capitalized competitor in their market. Gallo Mechanical, LLC, a New Orleans specialty mechanical contractor, has acquired Cherokee Mechanical, extending its commercial HVAC footprint into Northwest Georgia.

Cherokee Mechanical, based in Calhoun, Georgia, has operated since 1995 and focuses on commercial and industrial HVAC work. The acquisition fills a geographic gap between Gallo Mechanical’s existing Southeast markets.
Gallo Mechanical was founded in 1945 and is now in its fourth generation of family leadership. It provides HVAC and plumbing construction, retrofit and maintenance services for healthcare, hospitality, education, industrial and high-tech customers. Its footprint previously ran from Houston to the Carolinas.
Dallas-based Citation Capital acquired a majority stake in Gallo Mechanical in June 2025, and Gallo Mechanical’s management kept a significant ownership interest. When that investment was announced, Gallo Mechanical named data center expansion, manufacturing reshoring and energy-efficiency demand as its growth drivers.
Gallo Mechanical is an active buyer of commercial and industrial HVAC and mechanical contractors in the Southeast. The Cherokee Mechanical deal shows it will acquire established local brands that connect its existing markets.
Regional commercial service contractors in Northwest Georgia and along I-75 now compete with a PE-backed platform that has a stated strategic reason to operate there. For owners and developers in the region, particularly those with industrial, healthcare or high-tech facilities, the deal adds a mechanical contractor with a broader multi-state footprint alongside an established local operation. The transaction also reflects continued consolidation among Southeast mechanical contractors.
