The Idaho Transportation Department’s road maintenance equipment team won the top agency title at a national roadeo competition in Colorado, marking its fifth victory in six years. The department reported the result on Oct. 9, 2026.
The team has now won the agency award for four consecutive years. Its only second-place finish during the six-year period came in 2022, when another Idaho team from the Ada County Highway District took the top position.
This year’s team comprised the four highest finishers at Idaho’s state truck roadeo: Jed Gregerson from District 5 in southeastern Idaho, Dustin Chase from District 1 in northern Idaho, Kyler Fullmer from District 6 in eastern Idaho and Tyler Shelton from District 3 in southwestern Idaho.
The competition tests the skills involved in operating maintenance equipment. Department officials credited teamwork and coordination for the team’s result.
The achievement highlights the operational skills public transportation agencies rely on to maintain roads and prepare for winter conditions. Equipment proficiency can support road-clearing operations and help maintenance crews respond to seasonal demands.
Although the announcement does not involve a construction contract or new infrastructure investment, it provides a workforce and operations update relevant to transportation agencies and contractors involved in highway maintenance.
