A construction project team has contributed $250,000 to local nonprofit organisations in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, supporting community services in the area where it is working on the Homer City project.
Kiewit organised the inaugural Kiewit Cares – Homer City Charity Golf Tournament in collaboration with Homer City Generation. Sponsors and project partners participated in the event, with proceeds directed to three organisations selected for their work serving the local community.
The team presented the donations on September 19 as part of its community outreach efforts during the project’s first year on site.
The Indiana County Community Action Program, the Indiana County Endowment Fund and the American Cancer Society of Western Pennsylvania each received more than $83,000.
The Indiana County Community Action Program provides services and resources to help individuals and families work toward self-sufficiency. The Indiana County Endowment Fund distributes grants to nonprofit organisations supporting community development and local initiatives.
The American Cancer Society of Western Pennsylvania provides resources and services for people navigating cancer treatment and recovery, including emotional support.
Kiewit’s Homer City project team said the donations reflect its commitment to stewardship and continued community involvement.
The donation highlights how construction project teams can support the communities surrounding major project sites through local partnerships and fundraising initiatives.
For contractors and project owners, community investment can help build relationships with local organisations and residents while directing resources toward regional needs. Kiewit’s initiative also demonstrates how charitable events involving sponsors and project partners can extend a construction project’s impact beyond its immediate work scope.
