Brothers Doug and John Casella founded Casella Construction in 1987, and it has since grown to become a leader in heavy highway and civil construction throughout New England and New York.

Originally established to support the growth of the family-owned Casella Waste Management, the company has blossomed into a major regional contractor.

Casella Construction boasts a diverse portfolio encompassing heavy excavation, general site work, utility installation, landfill construction and closure, commercial site development, demolition, and comprehensive construction management services.

The First Major Project

A hallmark achievement came in 1994 with the Diamond Run Mall project, their first major commercial civil construction endeavor valued at $4 million. Since then, Casella Construction has grown steadily, reaching significant milestones. In 2009, they surpassed 1 million cubic yards of earth moved on a single project—the Clinton County Landfill in New York.‍

Second Generation Takes the Helm 

2012 marked a turning point as the second generation, Joe and John Casella, assumed leadership roles within the company. Their vision and dedication continued the company's upward trajectory. In 2016, they completed the $10 million expansion of the Newport, VT, Airport, a project showcasing their expertise.

Casella Construction's commitment to excellence is evident in its impressive project portfolio. This dedication was recognized in 2018 when the Rutland Economic Development Corp. (REDC) awarded Casella Construction the "Business Member of the Year" award.
