ANACONDA, Mont. — Oct. 9, 2025 — Montana Lines Inc. in partnership with the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) have completed a series of sidewalk and signal replacement projects in Anaconda, improving accessibility and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The upgrades were focused on the Main Street intersection with Park Avenue and Commercial Avenue, where older sidewalks were replaced with ADA-compliant concrete, ensuring accessible routes for pedestrians of all abilities.
“These improvements ensure that all residents and visitors, including those with mobility challenges, can navigate Anaconda safely and efficiently,” an MDT spokesperson said.
While construction for this season has largely wrapped up, crews are set to return next year to apply chip seal and new pavement markings along Montana Highway 1 between Polk Street and North Cable Road, further enhancing roadway safety and durability.
In nearby Deer Lodge, MDT crews continue sidewalk and signal replacement at the intersection of Main Street and Milwaukee Avenue, bringing ADA compliance and improved pedestrian safety to another key area.
“Our teams are committed to making Montana’s streets safer and more accessible for everyone,” the MDT spokesperson added.
These ADA upgrades not only comply with federal standards but also:
The projects are part of MDT’s ongoing efforts to maintain and upgrade pedestrian infrastructure statewide, combining federal accessibility requirements with local community needs.
