Arkansas Water Well Committee Sets Sept. 10 Meeting
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Arkansas Department of Agriculture has scheduled the next meeting of the Water Well Construction Committee for Tuesday, September 10, at 9:30 a.m. The session will be held at the Department’s Natural Resources Division Office in Little Rock.

The Committee operates under the framework of the Arkansas Water Well Construction Act, a law established in 1969 by the Arkansas General Assembly to safeguard public health and welfare by regulating the construction of water wells and the installation of pumps. The statute, along with subsequent rules developed by the Arkansas Water Well Commission (now the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission), provides a regulatory structure intended to ensure underground water resources are developed in a safe, sanitary, efficient, and orderly manner.
The upcoming meeting will feature a range of important agenda items, including:
- Review and approval of the February 26 meeting minutes
- Activity, agency, inspector, and applicant reports
- Updates on active cases and pending matters
- Consideration of a request from Caden Cartmell
- Other new business before the Committee
These discussions are vital for maintaining oversight of water well construction activities in Arkansas, which directly affect drinking water safety, agricultural use, and groundwater sustainability. By bringing together regulators, inspectors, and stakeholders, the Committee ensures compliance while addressing challenges facing well drillers and pump installers across the state.
Copies of the full agenda are available for public review through the Arkansas Department of Agriculture.
