ARTBA, AGC Nebraska Form Transportation Advocacy Partnership

The American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) and AGC Nebraska have announced a new formal affiliation designed to strengthen advocacy efforts for increased federal and state transportation investment, as Congress works toward reauthorizing surface transportation programs later this year.

“We are excited to welcome our newest chapter, AGC Nebraska, and its members to the ARTBA team at such a critical time,” ARTBA President & CEO Dave Bauer said. “This alliance will greatly strengthen both our organizations as we push for the next federal surface transportation bill during the coming months.”

Under the partnership, AGC Nebraska becomes ARTBA’s exclusive affiliate in the state, with the association’s heavy and highway construction contractors enrolling as ARTBA members. The move further expands ARTBA’s national “federation” model, which connects state chapters with federal policy advocacy and technical resources.

“ARTBA is a premier national organization that also provides unique resources for industry advocates at the state level,” said Katie Wilson, AGC Nebraska’s executive director. “They will reinforce our continued drive for the federal and state transportation funding needed to grow Nebraska’s economy.”

Federal reauthorization adds urgency

The announcement comes as Congress prepares to reauthorize federal highway and public transportation programs by September 30. According to U.S. Treasury data analyzed by ARTBA and published on the association’s Highway Dashboard, Nebraska received $1.8 billion in federal-aid highway funding over the past four years. That investment supported 719 highway and bridge projects across the state.

Bauer noted that AGC Nebraska has long worked closely with Nebraska’s congressional delegation, state officials and the Nebraska Department of Transportation — which is also an ARTBA member organization — positioning the partnership to play an active role during the reauthorization process.

Expanding ARTBA’s national network

Founded in 1927, AGC Nebraska is the state’s only full-service, statewide construction trade association representing heavy, highway, bridge and municipal and utility contractors. The organization serves as a central hub for advocacy, workforce development, education and industry networking.

With AGC Nebraska’s addition, ARTBA now counts 38 state chapters nationwide. The association represents approximately 8,000 private- and public-sector members involved in transportation design, construction and related services, continuing to build its influence as federal infrastructure policy debates intensify in 2026.
