Dome Construction Names Nicole Matoza CFO to Lead Financial Strategy

Dome Construction has appointed Nicole Matoza as its new chief financial officer, according to an April 28 press release from the South San Francisco-based firm. The company, known for its early and influential presence in the biotech and advanced manufacturing construction markets, emphasized Matoza’s strong financial background and leadership capabilities in its announcement.
In her new role, Matoza will be responsible for overseeing Dome’s financial strategy, improving operational efficiency, and guiding fiscal decision-making as the company continues to grow in complex, innovation-driven markets. Dome noted that she brings over a decade of experience in both public and private sector construction accounting to the position.

“Nicole’s expertise in construction finance and strategic leadership make her an invaluable asset to Dome Construction,” said CEO Rob Lynch. “Her ability to drive financial excellence while supporting key business initiatives will be instrumental in strengthening our position in the industry.”
Before stepping into the CFO position, Matoza served as Dome’s director of finance, a role she assumed in 2021. She originally joined the company in 2019 as its controller. Her prior experience includes six years as an audit supervisor at Sacramento-based accounting firm BFBA, followed by a stint as controller at Triamid Construction, also located in Sacramento. According to her LinkedIn profile, she holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting from California State University, Chico.
Matoza is also active in the broader construction finance community. She is a member of the Construction Financial Management Association and has played a key role in Dome’s internal initiatives aimed at supporting women in construction — a sector where women remain underrepresented at leadership levels.
Founded in 1969 in the Bay Area, Dome has built a legacy of delivering projects for some of the most advanced science and technology clients in California. The company was a trailblazer in the biotech space, completing Genentech’s flagship South San Francisco campus in 1985 — then the largest biotech manufacturing facility in the world. In the early 2000s, it went on to build Abgenix’s $80 million production plant in Fremont.
Dome has also made its mark on government and research infrastructure. Its past projects include the California Department of Justice’s DNA Forensic Laboratory in Richmond and the Laser Optics Lab at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
In 2023, the firm reported $575 million in revenue, according to data from Engineering News-Record.
With Matoza stepping into the CFO role, Dome is doubling down on strategic financial planning and internal leadership development, aiming to sustain momentum across the specialized sectors it serves.
