LOUISVILLE, Colo. — King Soopers is deepening its Colorado footprint with a new Marketplace store in Louisville, marking another step in the grocery chain’s ongoing expansion across the state.
The company announced Friday that it has begun construction at 1171 W. Dillon Rd., transforming the former retail site into one of its signature Marketplace-format stores. The project represents a $23.6 million investment, reflecting King Soopers’ growth strategy as well as its commitment to serving fast-growing Front Range communities.
The new 12,000-square-foot location is designed to meet modern shopping needs, featuring pickup and delivery services, a drive-thru pharmacy, and a fuel center with five pumps and eight electric vehicle charging stations.
The Marketplace is also expected to become a major local employer. According to the company, the store will generate 250 new jobs, ranging from in-store associates to pharmacy and service staff, further boosting Louisville’s local economy.
“We are thrilled for the opportunity to serve the Louisville community with another store and remain committed to being a great community partner,” said Chris Albi, president of King Soopers. “This project allows us to grow our footprint, better serve our loyal customers, and invest in the future of this community.”
In conjunction with the groundbreaking, King Soopers made a $5,000 donation to Community Food Share, a nonprofit food bank serving Boulder and Broomfield counties. The contribution will support the fight against food insecurity, a need that continues to rise in the area despite economic growth.
King Soopers currently operates 19 stores across Colorado, and the new Louisville site will add to its network of Marketplace stores designed as one-stop shopping destinations. The Marketplace concept combines traditional groceries with expanded departments, offering customers access to fresh produce, household essentials, health and wellness items, and more.
The new Louisville Marketplace is projected to open in the summer of 2026, giving the community less than a year to wait for its arrival. For King Soopers, the expansion comes at a time when grocers nationwide are adapting to evolving consumer expectations, increased demand for convenience-driven services, and the need to integrate sustainable infrastructure like EV charging into retail developments.
With this addition, King Soopers not only strengthens its retail presence but also doubles down on its role as a community partner—balancing economic growth, customer service innovation, and social responsibility.
