Ladies Under Construction, a long-running Indianapolis-based mentoring organization focused on building confidence and leadership among young girls, is preparing to celebrate a major milestone. The group will host its fall completion ceremony on December 13, marking 16 years of continuous service to the community.

Founded by Aleanya Moore, Ladies Under Construction (LUC) was created to offer young girls a safe, supportive environment where they can grow academically, socially, and personally. Over the years, the program has become known for its structured mentoring approach, which blends group activities with one-on-one guidance, literacy support, leadership training, and community engagement projects.
More than 40 girls completed the fall session and will be recognized during the ceremony with certificates and a variety of achievement awards, including honors for peer leadership and significant improvement. The event will highlight the accomplishments of participants who have taken part in workshops, service projects, skill-building sessions, and peer-led initiatives.

Participants say the program has had a profound impact on their lives.
“I have always just been a leader, but LUC just helped me level up my leadership skills,” said Royal Aramide, one of the program’s participants. Her experience reflects the organization’s mission to provide girls with the tools and confidence to excel in school and beyond.
A significant component of Ladies Under Construction is its peer mentorship program, which pairs high school girls with younger participants to foster connection, accountability, and real-world leadership practice. Moore emphasized how essential mentoring is — not just for young people, but for everyone striving to grow. “Even in business, we need mentors,” she said, underscoring the universal value of guidance and support.
Aramide recalled that some of the most memorable experiences came from volunteering and interacting with the wider community. “The best part about the program was when we, like, we also did nursing,” she said, referring to visits to nursing homes and hands-on community activities that helped build empathy and confidence.
As the organization moves into its 17th year, Moore and her team remain committed to expanding their reach and continuing to nurture the next generation of female leaders. The upcoming ceremony stands not just as a celebration of individual achievements but as a testament to the organization’s lasting influence in Indianapolis.
Ladies Under Construction continues to empower girls to recognize their value, embrace their potential, and build bright futures rooted in leadership and community service.
