A major hospitality and economic development milestone is underway in Cedar Park, Texas, as Great Lakes Capital, NFM, and the City of Cedar Park officially broke ground on a new Marriott hotel and convention center. The project is part of CedarView, a sprawling mixed-use development designed to transform the area into a regional destination for business, events, and tourism.

The development will feature a full-service Marriott hotel with 297 guest rooms, a 30,000-square-foot event and meeting space, a full-service restaurant, a breakfast café, and a resort-style pool area. The combination of upscale accommodations and flexible event space is expected to boost Cedar Park’s capacity to host large conferences, corporate events, and leisure travelers.

Great Lakes Capital, an Indiana-based private equity real estate firm, is spearheading the project in partnership with NFM (Nebraska Furniture Mart), which is already a major anchor of the CedarView development. The City of Cedar Park is also a key stakeholder, supporting the project as a long-term investment in the community’s economic development.

At a ceremonial groundbreaking attended by public officials, developers, and representatives from Cadence McShane Construction, the general contractor, community leaders shared their excitement about the project’s potential to reshape the local economy and elevate Cedar Park’s hospitality offerings.

“This project aims to position Cedar Park as a top destination for meetings, events, and hospitality,” said Mayor Jim Penniman-Morin, highlighting the significance of the development for the region’s future.

City Manager Brenda Eivens added that the city has long envisioned a project like this and is eager to see it come to fruition. “We’re thrilled to see the realization of a full-service hotel and convention center that will attract visitors and serve the community,” Eivens said.

Located within the dynamic CedarView district—already home to retail, entertainment, and residential offerings—the Marriott is expected to complement the surrounding amenities and attract further investment to the area. With easy access to major highways and its proximity to Austin, the hotel is expected to draw regional and national visitors alike.

Economic development officials have also noted that the convention center will serve as a catalyst for local job creation, both during construction and through ongoing operations after opening. The city anticipates a boost in tax revenues from increased tourism and business travel.

The Marriott hotel and convention center is expected to be completed by Q1 of 2027. Once operational, it will be one of the largest hospitality venues in the region and a key anchor for Cedar Park’s continued growth as a premier destination in Central Texas.
