ANN ARBOR, Mich., June 19, 2025 — The University of Michigan’s Engineering Professional Education division has launched a new live online program designed to strengthen the leadership and technical skills of construction professionals. Titled Construction Project Management: Planning, Execution, and Risk Mitigation, the four-week course is being offered in collaboration with global learning platform Emeritus, with enrollments now open for a June 2025 start.

With construction projects becoming increasingly complex due to tighter schedules, budget constraints, and evolving sustainability requirements, the new program aims to prepare professionals to tackle these challenges with confidence. The course blends live faculty-led sessions, practical exercises, industry templates, and peer interactions to provide actionable learning for real-world application.

"The multifaceted challenges of modern construction projects require proactive and adept leadership," said Vineet R. Kamat, John L. Tishman Family Professor of Construction Management and Sustainability at the University of Michigan. "The Construction Project Management program equips professionals with immediately applicable skills and knowledge to confidently tackle complexities, leverage innovation, and achieve excellence in construction."

Participants will learn to evaluate and execute projects, conduct risk assessments, integrate sustainability and digital tools into workflows, and lead multidisciplinary teams across the project life cycle. The curriculum also covers stakeholder engagement and emerging technologies that drive efficiency.

Ideal for construction managers, site supervisors, engineers, architects, real estate developers, and project consultants, the program provides foundational and advanced strategies for managing modern projects. Upon successful completion, participants receive a verified certificate from Michigan Engineering Professional Education.

"The Construction Project Management program equips construction professionals with essential tools to manage project schedules, budgets, and risks while also integrating digital technologies and sustainable practices into project workflows," said Mike Malefakis, President of University Partnerships at Emeritus. "Our collaboration with Michigan Engineering underscores our unwavering commitment to helping construction managers and professionals successfully deliver construction projects."

This initiative is part of Michigan Engineering’s broader mission to deliver flexible, high-quality professional education tailored to modern workforce needs. Whether learners are upskilling individually or part of company-sponsored training, Michigan’s offerings emphasize leadership, innovation, and technical excellence.
