The Hall of Fame distinction is reserved for professionals who have shaped Alabama’s construction landscape through innovation, mentorship and community commitment. Industry leaders say both honorees represent the values that have driven the sector’s growth for generations.

“These two individuals represent the very best of Alabama’s construction industry — visionary leadership, professional excellence and a lasting commitment to building our state,” said Mike Scarborough, president of Alabama AGC and Rabren General Contractors.

Careers Built on Major Projects and Mentorship

Jeff Stone has spent his entire professional career with Brasfield & Gorrie, one of the Southeast’s largest contractors, serving in multiple senior leadership roles. Over the years he has helped guide major health care, industrial and commercial developments throughout Alabama and the broader region, including high-profile projects at Auburn University.

Beyond project management, Stone has been deeply involved with Auburn’s Samuel Ginn College of Engineering, where he has supported engineering education through mentorship, industry engagement and advocacy for workforce development. Colleagues credit him with helping bridge the gap between academic training and real-world construction leadership.

Ben Nevins brings more than 40 years of experience with BL Harbert International, where he has overseen complex, large-scale assignments across multiple markets. He currently serves as senior vice president of the U.S. Commercial and Healthcare Divisions, guiding strategic growth and project execution nationwide.

A fellow Auburn University graduate, Nevins is also active in civic service, serving on boards for Foundry Ministries, Cornerstone School and Alabama AGC, reinforcing his commitment to community development beyond the jobsite.

Hall of Fame Honors Lifetime Impact

Organizers say the award celebrates not only professional success but also the influence recipients have had on the next generation of builders.

“The Hall of Fame honors individuals whose careers have elevated the construction profession and left a lasting legacy,” said Alex Whaley Sr., chair of the Alabama Construction Hall of Fame committee and Whaley Construction. “Jeff Stone and Ben Nevins exemplify those values through decades of leadership, service and dedication to building opportunities for others.”

The induction of Stone and Nevins highlights the continuing strength of Alabama’s construction sector, which remains a cornerstone of the state economy. Alabama AGC officials noted that both men have played key roles in advancing safety standards, professional education and ethical business practices across the industry.

The honorees will be formally recognized at an upcoming Alabama AGC event alongside industry leaders, family members and colleagues who have worked with them throughout their careers.
