Growing demand for digital infrastructure continues to drive major construction opportunities across Europe. HOCHTIEF and Turner Construction, working with Turner's subsidiary Dornan, have been selected by NTT Global Data Centers to build a new hyperscale data center campus in Berlin, Germany.
The contract, valued at several hundred million euros, adds to the expanding pipeline of large-scale data center projects supporting cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and enterprise digital services.
The development includes construction of a three-story data center with 36 megawatts of IT capacity, along with a separate four-story office building.
An integrated delivery team from HOCHTIEF Infrastructure and Dornan will execute the project. Dornan's responsibilities include mechanical and electrical systems installation, while the overall scope also encompasses advanced building management and safety systems required for mission-critical operations.
Construction activities commenced in June 2026. The first operational data halls are expected to be delivered in 2028, with full project completion targeted for 2029.
The Berlin project strengthens HOCHTIEF's position in the European digital infrastructure market, where demand for hyperscale and colocation facilities continues to increase.
According to the company, data center projects accounted for a significant share of its 2025 project backlog, reflecting continued investment in mission-critical infrastructure across key international markets.
For Turner and Dornan, the award further expands their portfolio of complex facilities requiring specialized construction, mechanical, and electrical expertise.
Data center construction remains one of the fastest-growing segments of the commercial building market. For construction owners, developers, and specialty contractors, projects of this scale create sustained demand for structural construction, mission-critical MEP systems, commissioning services, and advanced building technologies as organizations continue expanding digital infrastructure capacity across Europe.
