Access to specialized pediatric healthcare is expanding in California’s Inland Empire with the completion of a five-story outpatient facility designed to consolidate multiple pediatric services in Loma Linda. Layton Construction completed the 105,000-square-foot Loma Linda University Children’s Health Specialty Clinics, with patient services expected to begin in early 2027.
The new outpatient pavilion is located next to Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital and is planned to bring at least 20 pediatric specialties into a single facility.
Planned services include orthopaedics, cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, pulmonology, spina bifida care and pediatric general surgery.
The facility is intended to expand access to specialized pediatric care for families in San Bernardino and Riverside counties. The project addresses a regional shortage of pediatric providers, with San Bernardino County reporting more than 2,200 children per pediatrician, according to information cited by the project team.
Layton Construction completed the project ahead of its planned patient opening in early 2027. The five-story building provides dedicated space for the range of pediatric specialties planned for the facility.
Mascari Dinh Architects served as the project designer. The facility expands the healthcare campus surrounding Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital, which is described as the region’s only stand-alone pediatric hospital.
The hospital serves approximately 1.2 million children annually, while the new specialty clinic is intended to add outpatient capacity and bring services that were previously distributed across the community into one location.
The project adds 105,000 square feet of specialized outpatient healthcare capacity in a region with a documented shortage of pediatric providers. For healthcare owners and contractors, the development illustrates continued demand for facilities that consolidate specialty services and increase outpatient capacity near established medical campuses.
