More than $100,000 in scholarship funding is available to students preparing for careers in mechanical contracting, with applications open for the 2027 John R. Gentille Foundation (JRGF) scholarship program. The program includes 25 scholarships for undergraduate students pursuing construction and mechanical industry fields.
Applicants must actively participate in an MCAA student chapter and pursue an undergraduate degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, HVAC or a related field. Students must also demonstrate an interest in pursuing a mechanical contracting career through employment and other industry activities.
The 2027 scholarship program includes awards supported by mechanical industry companies, families and organizations. The scholarships address several areas of construction and mechanical education, including engineering and estimating.
Applications must be submitted by Nov. 6, 2026. The scholarships will be presented March 10, 2027, during the Awards of Excellence Breakfast at MCAA27 in San Diego, California.
JRGF is also accepting nominations for its Chapter of the Year and Educator of the Year awards. Both programs recognize contributions to MCAA student chapter development and education.
The Chapter of the Year Award provides $10,000 to an MCAA student chapter for achievements in areas such as governance, leadership, membership recruitment, fundraising, community involvement and career development.
The Educator of the Year Award provides $5,000 to recognize a faculty advisor for service as an educator, mentor and advisor to students preparing for mechanical construction careers.
Nominations for both awards are due Nov. 6, 2026.
The scholarship program provides financial support to students entering construction management, mechanical engineering, HVAC and related fields while connecting them with MCAA student chapters.
The chapter and educator awards also recognize programs and individuals supporting industry-focused education. Together, the initiatives give mechanical contractors and industry organizations opportunities to engage with students before they enter the workforce.
