Leadership Transition Takes Shape

Leadership continuity is becoming an important consideration for specialty contractors managing growth and long-term operations. Nevell Group Inc. has established a planned executive transition that will move day-to-day leadership to Chris Taylor while retaining co-founder Michael Nevell in a board leadership role.

Taylor is scheduled to become CEO on Jan. 1, 2027. Nevell, who co-founded the Brea, California-based contractor in 2003 and has served as CEO since its formation, will become chairman of the board.

The transition follows Taylor's progression through several operational and executive positions at Nevell Group. He joined the organization in 2017 after managing a local branch for a national mechanical contractor and later held positions including director of operations, senior vice president of operations and chief operating officer.

From President to CEO

Taylor has served as president since 2021, with responsibilities spanning company strategy, operations, growth and leadership development. His move to the CEO position places an executive with nearly a decade of experience at Nevell Group at the center of its next leadership phase.

Nevell Group operates as a 100% employee-owned business and provides interior and exterior wall systems for projects across the Western United States. Its work includes healthcare, higher education, aviation, commercial, hospitality and civic facilities.

The company is headquartered at 3001 Enterprise Street in Brea and has operated since 2003.

Why It Matters

For construction owners and specialty contractors, the transition illustrates the role of structured leadership succession in maintaining operational continuity as businesses expand. Nevell Group's planned change keeps its co-founder involved through the board while elevating an existing senior executive with experience across operations and company management.

The January 2027 transition also preserves the employee-owned structure while shifting executive responsibility to the next generation of leadership.
