Maintaining safe and functional housing environments is important for organisations providing transitional accommodation to vulnerable families. In Racine, Wisconsin, employees from STV participated in a community improvement initiative focused on upgrading living spaces at Bethany Apartments, which serves survivors of domestic abuse and their families.
The Wisconsin team partnered with United Way Racine County as part of the 2026 Days of Caring programme. Volunteer activities included painting interior areas, assembling shelving and storage units, and completing additional property improvements.
The work focused on improving the facility's interior spaces and storage areas to support a more functional residential environment.
Bethany Apartments provides temporary housing and support for women and families rebuilding their lives after domestic abuse. The transitional housing programme allows residents to remain for up to two years, providing time to pursue stability and greater independence.
STV's participation involved employees from its program management and construction management team, including Assistant Project Manager Jillian Palmer.
Days of Caring is an annual United Way Racine County initiative that brings together local businesses and community volunteers to support nonprofit organisations and other community partners.
STV's Wisconsin team joined the programme to complete hands-on improvements at Bethany Apartments. The initiative forms part of the organisation's broader community engagement activities across its operating locations.
The initiative highlights how construction and infrastructure professionals can contribute technical and practical skills to community facilities outside traditional project delivery. Activities such as painting, storage installation and property improvements can help nonprofit housing providers maintain functional spaces for the families they serve.
