CFMA Virginia's Construction Conference 2026: What to Know Before You Go

Caroline Raffetto

The Virginia Construction Conference returns to the historic Hotel Roanoke from Sunday, October 18 through Tuesday, October 20, 2026. Hosted by CFMA's Virginia regional and Blue Ridge chapters, the conference brings together construction financial professionals for two days of education, CPE credit, networking, and a few well-earned evenings out.

Whether you're a first-time attendee or a returning regular, here's everything you need to know to make the most of your time in Roanoke.

Registration and check-in

Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center in Roanoke, VA

Registration opens Sunday, October 18, from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m., and again Monday, October 19, from 7:15 to 11:30 a.m. You'll find the table on the Lower Conference Level, just outside the Washington Lecture Hall. Signs will guide you from the hotel lobby.

Stop by to pick up your conference badge and handouts. A venue map is available on the last page of the agenda on the conference website and through QR codes posted around the hotel.

Speakers and sponsors should also check in at the registration table to collect badges and coordinate session logistics. The dress code for all conference events is business casual.

Sunday: optional workshops and welcome reception

Sunday's only sessions are two optional workshops, each offering 2 CPE hours:

  • Captive Insurance Workshop
  • Building Financial Literacy Across Your Organization (WIP, cash flow, and financials)
If you plan to attend either workshop, register in advance so organizers can plan for headcount.

That evening, kick off the conference at the welcome reception from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at club aka, a speakeasy tucked off the Hotel Roanoke lobby bar. Head down the steps, or take the elevator. Light food will be served, and each attendee receives two drink tickets at the door. There's no extra registration or fee to attend.

Monday and Tuesday: sessions, breakfast, and a night out

The conference officially opens with the Welcome and General Session on Monday, October 19 at 8:00 a.m. in the Washington Lecture Hall. The full schedule is available on the conference agenda.

Breakfast is served Monday and Tuesday starting at 7:15 a.m. in the Lower Lounge. This year's spread is expanded, with eggs, potatoes, bacon, and sausage.

Monday evening dinner at Corned Beef & Co.

Monday night moves offsite to Corned Beef & Co. (107 S Jefferson St, Roanoke) at 6:00 p.m. The restaurant is just 0.3 miles from the hotel, about a six-minute walk, with a covered walkway for most of the route. Watch for announcements about meeting up to walk over in groups.

The evening includes dinner, two drink tickets, and a 9-ball billiards tournament. Shuttle service from Hotel Roanoke is available for attendees with disabilities or anyone unable to make the walk. Airport runs take priority, so arrange your ride in advance.

Want to bring a guest? Guest dinner registration is $75 and can be added through the conference registration page.

Earning your CPE credit

A code word will be announced during each session, and CFMA will email your CPE certificates after the conference. To receive credit, you'll need a free CFMA account. This is not a membership, and there's no fee for non-members.

Setting up an account takes less than five minutes:

  1. Visit cfma.org/members/members/create-account.
  2. Enter your name, email, login, and password. Use the same email you registered for the conference with.
  3. Click submit.

Visit sponsors for a chance to win $250

This year's Sponsor Passport makes visiting exhibitors worth your while. Each sponsor table has stickers for your passport card. Collect 10 stickers to enter the conference raffle for $250.

The winner will be drawn at the close of the conference on Tuesday, and you must be present to win. Sponsor attendees aren't eligible for this drawing, but many exhibitors are running raffles of their own, so stop by and say hello.

Getting there: hotel, parking, and shuttles

The conference is held at Hotel Roanoke, 110 Shenandoah Ave NW, Roanoke, VA 24016. Hotel check-in is at 4:00 p.m., and check-out is at 11:00 a.m.

Arriving before your room is ready? A conference room directly across from the main Lecture Hall is available for luggage storage on arrival and again Tuesday morning. Ask any committee member for access.

Plan your conference before you arrive.
