AdventHealth Expands Tampa Campus with New Cancer Center, Imaging Services, and Parking Structure

AdventHealth, based in Altamonte Springs, Florida, has broken ground on a transformative new addition to its Tampa campus — a five-story, 100,000-square-foot medical office building (MOB) designed to elevate specialty care and education in the region. The health system marked the beginning of the construction project with a ceremonial groundbreaking, underscoring its commitment to long-term growth in Hillsborough County.

The centerpiece of the new MOB will be a state-of-the-art cancer center, equipped with the latest technology and treatment modalities. According to AdventHealth, the center will provide comprehensive oncology care, including diagnostics, chemotherapy, radiation, and supportive services — all designed with patient experience in mind.

“This project is a reflection of our long-term commitment to the Tampa Bay community,” said AdventHealth officials in a press release. “By investing in innovative facilities and medical education, we are laying the foundation for a healthier future.”

The new building will also house expanded clinical care services and specialty imaging, offering more accessible diagnostics in areas such as MRI, CT, and ultrasound. The goal is to reduce wait times, streamline care coordination, and ensure quicker diagnoses for patients with complex medical needs.

To accommodate increased foot traffic, the development includes a seven-story parking garage, which will greatly improve access for patients, physicians, and staff. The garage is expected to alleviate longstanding parking limitations on the campus, especially during peak hours.

Boost to Graduate Medical Education

AdventHealth Tampa is one of the key training sites for the system’s graduate medical education (GME) programs. The new space will support training in internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, and general surgery, helping to attract top-tier residents and fellows to the region.

“The additional facilities will give our medical residents and attending physicians more tools, space, and resources to improve patient care and outcomes,” the system said. “It’s about investing not just in infrastructure, but in the future of medicine.”

As hospitals across the country compete to recruit and retain talented clinicians, AdventHealth’s investment in academic medicine is seen as a major draw for both patients and medical professionals alike.

Timeline and Vision for the Future

Construction is currently underway, with the new MOB expected to open by Fall 2026. Once operational, the expansion will allow AdventHealth Tampa to serve thousands more patients annually while enhancing the quality and continuity of care.

This project is part of a broader strategic effort by AdventHealth to expand its footprint across the Tampa Bay region. In recent years, the system has invested heavily in primary care, urgent care, and specialty services to meet rising demand from the region’s growing population.

Additionally, the campus improvement aligns with AdventHealth’s goal of delivering whole-person care — addressing not only physical health but also emotional and spiritual wellbeing through integrated, patient-centered facilities.

“Our vision is to be a trusted partner in health for life,” AdventHealth said. “And this new facility is a significant step in that direction.”
