ARLINGTON, Texas — With just two months remaining before the INDYCAR Grand Prix of Arlington, construction activity is ramping up across the city as crews prepare roads and event infrastructure for the three-day racing weekend in March.

Event officials said roadway preparations are nearing completion, with diamond grinding currently underway to smooth pavement surfaces along the race route surrounding Globe Life Field. The grinding process is designed to improve traction and ensure a safer, more consistent racing surface for drivers.

Additional construction milestones are scheduled throughout the coming weeks. Beginning Monday, crews will start building a bridge suite structure in Lot 4 of AT&T Stadium. On Feb. 2, organizers will begin installing barricades, fencing, grandstands, and other event-related infrastructure in Lots B and C. Track construction at the intersection of Randol Mill Road and Stadium Drive is slated to begin Feb. 12.

The temporary street circuit will span 2.73 miles and include 14 turns, weaving through Arlington’s major sports venues — AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Field, and Choctaw Stadium — making the race one of the most unique urban layouts on the INDYCAR calendar.

The Arlington event marks INDYCAR’s return to Texas after Texas Motor Speedway was removed from the schedule following the 2023 season. INDYCAR had competed annually at the Fort Worth oval since 1997, but the series and track operator Speedway Motorsports were unable to reach a new agreement for 2024, according to the Associated Press.

The INDYCAR Grand Prix of Arlington will also serve as a precursor to another major international sporting event, with the 2026 FIFA World Cup scheduled to bring matches to the region just months later in June and July.

Ticket options for the racing weekend include both single-day and three-day passes. General admission tickets are priced starting at $35 for Friday, $50 for Saturday, and $90 for Sunday, while a three-day general admission pass is available for $110. Reserved seating on Sunday begins at $135, according to event officials.

As construction progresses, city leaders and event organizers continue coordinating logistics to ensure minimal disruption while delivering a high-profile motorsports event in the heart of Arlington’s entertainment district.
