California Department of Transportation is warning motorists to expect delays and lane closures across portions of State Route 20 and State Route 49 as multiple construction projects continue through Placer and Nevada counties in Northern California.

The agency said several infrastructure improvement efforts are underway as part of the Gold Country Corridor construction program, with traffic restrictions scheduled throughout the coming week.
According to Caltrans District 3, crews will continue pavement rehabilitation work along State Route 20 between Dow Road and Harmony Ridge Road. One-way traffic control is scheduled daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning Monday, May 11, through Friday, May 15.
The pavement rehabilitation project is designed to improve roadway conditions and extend the lifespan of the heavily traveled corridor that connects rural communities and regional transportation routes.
More significant impacts are expected from the ongoing Yuba Pass Separation Overhead Bridge Project.
Eastbound State Route 20 will be closed between the Omega Scenic Overlook and the Interstate 80 junction from 7 p.m. Sunday, May 10, through 9 a.m. Friday, May 15. Additional overnight closures are scheduled from Sunday, May 17, through Friday, May 22.
Motorists traveling toward Interstate 80 will be detoured south along State Route 49 to Auburn or along State Route 174 to Colfax. Caltrans said large trucks are being directed exclusively to use State Route 49 during the closure periods.
In addition, the SR 20 on-ramp to westbound Interstate 80 remains closed indefinitely while bridge construction activities continue.
Transportation officials said the extended closures are intended to reduce the overall duration of the project while improving safety conditions for construction crews working within the corridor.
Along State Route 49, crews are continuing work on the Sidewalk Gap Closure Project between Luther Road and Elm/Fulweiler Avenue.
Southbound lane closures are scheduled nightly from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. beginning Sunday, May 10, through Thursday, May 14, with work expected to conclude for the week Friday morning.
Meanwhile, Caltrans said no lane closures are currently planned for the ongoing Corridor Improvement Project on SR 49 because work activities are taking place behind temporary barriers.

The agency warned drivers to expect travel delays ranging from 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic volumes and reminded motorists that schedules may change due to weather conditions, material availability or other unforeseen circumstances.
Caltrans District 3 oversees approximately 4,385 lane miles across 11 counties in the Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra region.
Transportation officials also encouraged motorists to remain alert in work zones and reduce speeds near active construction areas as part of California’s “Be Work Zone Alert” safety campaign.
Real-time traffic information is available through Caltrans QuickMap and the QuickMap mobile application.
