Chelsea Building Products has officially broken ground on a new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, marking a significant milestone in the company’s continued growth strategy. The new facility, which spans 228,000 square feet, is designed to significantly boost production capacity for its PVC window and door profiles while also housing operations for blending compound materials.

Located not far from its headquarters in Oakmont, the new plant reflects Chelsea’s deepening roots in Pennsylvania’s manufacturing landscape. Once completed, the facility will be built using insulated precast construction and include high-efficiency production bays measuring 100 feet by 50 feet, a 32-foot clear height, and 10 fully equipped dock positions to streamline logistics. It will also feature a robust 10,000-amp electrical service to support expanded operations.
Looking toward the future, the building has been designed with scalability in mind. Its layout will accommodate a possible 170,000-square-foot expansion, giving Chelsea the flexibility to respond to market growth and evolving product demand.
This will be Chelsea Building Products’ third manufacturing site nationwide and second in Pennsylvania, underscoring the company’s commitment to domestic production and workforce development. The company's other production facility is located in Greenville, Texas.
“Chelsea Building Products is excited to continue with its aggressive expansion plans by opening a second facility in Pennsylvania,” said Peter Dewil, president and CEO of Chelsea Building Products. “This facility will give us the opportunity to increase our capacity to meet the ever-growing demand for our products. It will also improve efficiencies by bringing manufacturing and warehousing under a single roof. We are also thrilled to be bringing more job opportunities to the Westmoreland County community.”
Founded in 1975, Chelsea Building Products has been a leading manufacturer of extruded PVC and composite profiles for nearly five decades. Its product lines serve a wide variety of residential and commercial building applications, including windows, doors, shutters, moldings, and its signature Everlast Advanced Composite Siding.
The expansion comes as demand for energy-efficient and low-maintenance building products continues to rise in both new construction and remodeling markets. Chelsea's ability to scale production and consolidate operations under one roof will improve logistical efficiency, reduce costs, and allow for faster response times to customer needs across North America.
Westmoreland County officials have expressed support for the project, which is expected to generate new skilled labor opportunities and contribute to the local economy through jobs, investment, and ancillary services.
The new facility is expected to begin operations once construction is completed, with job hiring ramping up ahead of the plant’s opening.
