Clark Builders, a division of Turner Construction Company, has been selected as the General Contractor IPD Partner for the highly anticipated Kamloops Centre for the Arts (KCA), a landmark project set to redefine the cultural landscape of downtown Kamloops.

The four-story, 120,000-square-foot facility will serve as a major community hub, anchoring the city’s arts district and fueling both cultural engagement and economic growth. Designed to meet the needs of a growing population and a thriving creative sector, the new centre will provide flexible and accessible spaces for performances, rehearsals, education, and community gatherings.

Among the signature features are a 1,100-seat main stage theatre and a 450-seat secondary theatre, complemented by a mix of rehearsal and production studios, classrooms, administrative offices, and commercial and meeting spaces. The building will also include underground parking, climate-controlled storage, and robust support systems to ensure long-term functionality.

The project will also connect seamlessly to the adjacent Kelson Hall, which will be integrated into the overall development, while offsite infrastructure improvements will enhance connectivity and accessibility across the downtown core.

Now in the Validation Phase, the project is being shaped through the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) model, which emphasizes collaboration among owners, designers, builders, and consultants from the earliest stages. Construction is expected to begin in Fall 2025 with completion targeted for 2029.

“The Integrated Project Delivery model allows us to collaborate early, solve challenges together, and deliver better outcomes,” said Scott Benoit, Director, Project Development at Clark Builders. “It's exciting to work alongside such a dedicated team on a project that will have a lasting impact on the city’s cultural and economic future.”

The Kamloops Centre for the Arts will also serve as the permanent home for the Kamloops Symphony, while offering a versatile space for a variety of performances, conferences, and educational programming. By anchoring this development in the heart of downtown, the city aims to boost tourism, create jobs, and enhance the quality of life for residents.

Clark Builders will lead a strong team of project partners, including Station One Architects, Collins Steel, Westcana Electric, Kerr Interior, Interior Plumbing & Heating Ltd., WSP + Rocky Point Engineering, Aercoustics, MCW Consultants Ltd., WSP + Fast + Epp, DWD Theatre Design, True Consulting, Weft Strategies, and VDM Consulting.

Beyond its cultural significance, the project is expected to generate long-term economic benefits by attracting visitors, supporting local businesses, and fostering a vibrant downtown atmosphere. The new facility will also expand opportunities for local artists and youth to access professional spaces for creative development.

As a division of Turner Construction, Clark Builders brings both local expertise and global resources to the project. The company has built a reputation across Western and Northern Canada for delivering complex institutional, commercial, and cultural projects with an emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and community engagement.
