The residential construction sector in Northwest Indiana is seeing renewed leadership engagement as a regional industry association expands its governing board with two new appointments drawn directly from homebuilding and building supply operations.

For construction owners and developers, the additions reflect continued emphasis on aligning builder-led organizations with on-the-ground project delivery experience and supply chain expertise at a time when housing demand and workforce pressures remain central to the regional market.
The Home Builders Association of Northwest Indiana has appointed Mike Hendren, owner and president of Hendren Custom Homes in Valparaiso, to serve as a Builder Director. Hendren brings a background in custom residential construction and renovation work, with a business focus centered on long-term residential projects and client-driven home design.
Greg Hulbert, account manager at Trim-A-Door Corporation, has been named as an Associate Director. His role in the building materials sector includes engagement with contractors and builders across the Midwest, with experience tied to doors, millwork, cabinetry, and related residential construction products.
Together, the appointments add representation from both the production side of residential building and the upstream supplier network that supports construction timelines and material coordination.
The association’s board is composed of professionals from across the housing ecosystem, including builders, remodelers, subcontractors, developers, designers, financial institutions, and suppliers. The organization’s stated priorities include industry advocacy, workforce development initiatives, education programs, and coordination across the regional housing sector.
From a business perspective, the governance structure of regional builders associations often plays a role in shaping local workforce pipelines, apprenticeship exposure, and policy engagement tied to housing production. For contractors and suppliers, board participation can also provide early visibility into market constraints such as labor availability, permitting conditions, and material demand trends.
Northwest Indiana’s housing sector continues to operate in a competitive environment where builder networks are increasingly focused on talent retention, cost management, and supply chain stability. Industry associations in similar markets have expanded leadership representation to better reflect shifting dynamics between residential construction demand and labor supply limitations.
