Mike Fann and Jason Fann were honored during an awards event held April 24 at the Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU. The Sun Devil 100 program recognizes Arizona State University alumni who own or lead successful businesses across a range of industries and markets.
Mike Fann earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction from ASU in 1980, while Jason Fann graduated from the university’s construction program in 2002.
According to ASU Alumni Association data, the 2026 Sun Devil 100 class includes 225 honorees representing 162 companies with a combined $74.9 billion in fiscal year 2024 revenue. Collectively, the businesses employ nearly 219,000 full-time workers across multiple states and countries.
The recognition comes as construction and infrastructure firms throughout the Southwest continue experiencing strong demand tied to transportation improvements, population growth and industrial expansion. Industry leaders increasingly are being recognized not only for project delivery but also for workforce growth, operational leadership and long-term business performance.
Fann Contracting has built a strong presence in Arizona’s heavy civil and infrastructure sectors, with work spanning excavation, underground utilities, road construction and environmental services. Regional contractors operating in infrastructure-heavy markets have benefited from continued public investment and private-sector development activity throughout the state.
The Sun Devil 100 program evaluates companies based on sustained business performance and operational criteria, including revenue benchmarks and organizational longevity. Businesses considered for recognition must also align with the university’s charter principles and maintain active leadership ties to ASU alumni.
Industry observers note that alumni-based recognition programs increasingly highlight the connection between higher education, workforce development and long-term construction industry leadership. As contractors compete for talent and succession planning becomes more important, firms with strong educational and community ties may strengthen recruiting and business development opportunities.
