Founded in 1956 and headquartered in Downey, California, the company has grown into a nationwide provider supporting utilities and infrastructure operators with integrated corrosion protection programs. Over the years, Farwest has served more than 8,000 customers and completed upwards of 30,000 projects, according to the company.
“Reaching 70 years is a milestone we’re incredibly proud of, not just because of the longevity, but because of what it represents: trust built over time,” said Kenji Gailey, president of Farwest Corrosion Control Company. “That trust is earned by experienced professionals who care deeply about doing the work the right way.”
Farwest traces its origins to early expansion efforts led by Gordon Rankin, who helped grow the business in California and laid the foundation for its long-term success. Over time, the firm developed a reputation for technical expertise and reliability in cathodic protection systems designed to safeguard buried and submerged infrastructure.
Today, the company offers a fully integrated approach, combining product manufacturing, engineering design and field construction. This model allows Farwest to manage projects from concept through execution, ensuring performance and long-term asset protection.
The company’s mission, “Protecting Infrastructure and Making Tomorrow Safer,” reflects its focus on extending asset life, reducing risk and improving performance across essential infrastructure systems.

In 2022, Farwest entered a strategic partnership with IMB Partners to support continued expansion while maintaining its established operating model. The partnership has enabled further investment in workforce development, safety initiatives and integrated service capabilities.
Under Gailey’s leadership, the company continues to emphasize a people-first culture, prioritizing expertise and accountability across its engineering, manufacturing and construction teams.
As part of its anniversary initiatives, Farwest also released a complimentary eBook titled “Beneath the Surface,” offering insights and best practices for professionals in corrosion control and cathodic protection.
With infrastructure systems across the U.S. aging and requiring ongoing maintenance, demand for corrosion control services is expected to remain strong. Farwest’s leadership said the company will continue focusing on innovation and reliability as it enters its next phase of growth.
