A major construction milestone has been achieved on the New York Mets' new player development facility, advancing work toward the organization's planned Spring Training 2027 operations. Gilbane has completed the structural phase of the 55,000-square-foot complex at Clover Park, allowing the project to move into the next stage of construction.

Facility Construction Progress

The topping out marks the installation of the building's final structural steel beam, signifying completion of the primary structural framework. With the steel structure in place, construction activities will shift to building enclosure, interior systems and finishes.

Designed by HKS and constructed by Gilbane, the project is intended to centralize multiple player development functions within a single facility in Port St. Lucie.

Performance-Focused Facility Features

The new Player Development Complex will include a 7,000-square-foot weight room with a cardio mezzanine, a 5,000-square-foot clubhouse equipped with 180 lockers, hydrotherapy and sports medicine spaces, dining and multipurpose areas, covered batting cages and a synthetic turf agility field.

The integrated layout is designed to support athletic training, rehabilitation, nutrition and daily team operations throughout the player development process.

Why It Matters

Sports facility construction continues to represent an active segment of institutional development, with organizations investing in specialized training environments that combine performance, wellness and operational functions under one roof.

For construction owners, contractors and developers, the project highlights continued demand for technically complex athletic facilities that require coordinated structural, mechanical and specialty construction while maintaining project schedules for seasonal operational deadlines.
