Highway modernization activity continues across Southern California as transportation agencies advance congestion relief and mobility improvement programs on heavily traveled corridors. Jacobs has been selected by the Orange County Transportation Authority to provide construction management services for two major freeway improvement projects in Orange County, California.
Jacobs will oversee construction management services for the State Route 91 Improvement Project between La Palma Avenue and State Route 55, as well as the Interstate 5 Improvement Project between Interstate 405 and Yale Avenue.
The SR-91 project includes construction of a new eastbound general-purpose lane, bridge widening activities and interchange reconstruction intended to improve traffic operations and corridor reliability. According to publicly disclosed project information, the corridor carries more than 300,000 vehicles per day and serves as a key commuter and freight connection between Orange County and the Inland Empire.
The I-5 improvement program targets one of Southern California’s busiest freeway sections, where daily traffic volumes exceed 275,000 vehicles. Planned improvements are intended to improve traffic flow, increase safety and support regional transportation capacity.
Jacobs will support project delivery through construction oversight and coordination services for the two transportation programs managed by the Orange County Transportation Authority.
The projects are part of Orange County’s broader long-range transportation planning efforts focused on congestion reduction, mobility improvements and infrastructure modernization across the region’s highway network.
Jacobs maintains a significant transportation infrastructure portfolio across highway, rail, aviation and freight sectors. The company provides engineering, program management and construction services for transportation agencies in multiple domestic and international markets.
Southern California continues to experience elevated transportation infrastructure investment as regional agencies address increasing traffic volumes, population growth and aging roadway systems.
Large-scale freeway modernization programs frequently involve phased delivery strategies, interchange reconstruction, lane additions and corridor operational upgrades designed to improve travel reliability and freight mobility.
For construction owners, contractors and infrastructure suppliers, projects along SR-91 and Interstate 5 reflect ongoing public-sector demand for transportation construction services and long-duration program management capabilities in one of the nation’s most active highway infrastructure markets.
