Developing a pipeline of engineers, technology professionals and business talent remains a priority for companies supporting complex building and infrastructure markets. Johnson Controls has been recognized by Yello among its 2026 Top 100 Internship Programs, marking the fourth consecutive year the company has appeared on the list.
Johnson Controls' 2026 internship cohort includes students working across a broad range of technical and business functions. Assignments span engineering and software development as well as finance, legal, communications and IT.
The internships are structured around projects that give participants experience working on business challenges and collaborating with teams. The program also provides mentorship and opportunities for interns to develop problem-solving and analytical skills.
The company selected 160 interns from a North American applicant pool of nearly 12,000. Participants are distributed among 27 locations.
The internship program is designed to expose students to work connected to building systems, infrastructure and other markets served by Johnson Controls.
The range of disciplines represented in the program gives participants opportunities to gain experience beyond a single technical specialty. For construction and building-industry employers, similar programs can provide an early pathway for developing talent in engineering, technology and other functions supporting project delivery and building operations.
Yello's Top 100 recognition evaluates internship programs based on areas including professional development, intern engagement, workplace culture, career opportunities and program design.
Construction, building technology and infrastructure companies increasingly require talent with both technical and digital capabilities. Structured internship programs can give students practical experience before entering the full-time workforce while allowing employers to develop potential candidates across multiple disciplines.
Johnson Controls' 2026 program illustrates the scale of one corporate approach, with 160 interns participating across a geographically distributed program covering 18 areas of work.
