The Bismarck, North Dakota-based construction materials producer announced it has acquired the assets of the two companies, collectively known as Texcrete, which operate across the Bryan/College Station market in Central Texas. The transaction adds six ready-mix concrete plants and a fleet of 85 ready-mix trucks serving Brazos and Montgomery counties—two areas experiencing sustained population and infrastructure growth.

Texcrete’s operations also include a sand and gravel site with more than 20 years of aggregate reserves at current production levels, strengthening Knife River’s long-term supply position in the region and supporting future demand from public and private construction projects.

“This acquisition fits our strategy of focusing on materials-based, vertically integrated operations in mid-size, high-growth markets,” said Brian Gray, Knife River President and CEO. “We expect the ready-mix plants will pull through aggregates from our existing Knife River operations, in addition to leveraging Texcrete’s own supply. We’re excited about the growth potential in Texas, and we further expect the addition of Texcrete will help balance the seasonality in our northern markets.”

Company officials said the acquisition aligns with Knife River’s broader growth strategy, which emphasizes expanding aggregate-led operations in regions with strong population growth, infrastructure investment and university-driven economic activity. College Station, home to Texas A&M University, continues to see steady residential and commercial development, while Montgomery County ranks among the fastest-growing counties in the U.S.

Approximately 100 Texcrete employees have joined Knife River’s Texas team as part of the transaction, further expanding the company’s workforce and operational capacity in the state. Knife River already maintains a growing presence in Texas through materials production and contracting services supporting highways, commercial development and residential construction.

The addition of Texcrete enhances Knife River’s ability to supply ready-mix concrete, aggregates and related materials across Central Texas while improving logistical efficiency through vertically integrated sourcing. The company said the deal also supports efforts to offset weather-driven seasonality that impacts operations in its northern markets.

Knife River, a member of the S&P MidCap 400 index, produces crushed stone, sand and gravel and supplies ready-mix concrete, asphalt and other value-added construction materials. The company also performs contracting services on publicly funded DOT projects as well as private industrial, commercial and residential developments nationwide.
