Calgary is moving forward with a new active transportation project that will improve pedestrian and cyclist connectivity across the Bow River. Graham has been selected as the general contractor for the Bridgeland-Riverside Multimodal Pedestrian Bridge, an infrastructure investment designed to enhance mobility and strengthen connections between surrounding communities and recreational spaces.
The project supports the city's broader efforts to expand safe and accessible transportation options while improving access to Calgary's pathway network.
The new bridge will span the Bow River, linking the Bridgeland-Riverside community on the north bank with St. Patrick's Island. Once complete, the crossing will accommodate pedestrians, cyclists and other active transportation users.
The infrastructure is intended to improve connections to the Bow River pathway system while enhancing access to nearby public spaces and community amenities.
Construction is expected to begin in 2026, with the bridge scheduled to open during the summer of 2028.
Graham will serve as the general contractor for the project, working alongside the City of Calgary and the Calgary General Hospital Legacy Fund Review Committee.
