The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has officially unveiled its list of 2025 construction projects, announcing a robust season ahead with nearly 180 road and bridge developments, along with 51 infrastructure projects targeting airports, railroads, ports, and public transit systems.
The announcement, made Thursday, emphasizes several large-scale efforts across both the Twin Cities metro and greater Minnesota. Among the priorities are critical bridge repairs in Minneapolis, a major resurfacing on I-35W in Burnsville, and substantial upgrades to highways including I-494, Highway 10, and Highway 19.
MnDOT Commissioner Nancy Daubenberger urged drivers to prepare for increased construction activity across the state.
“With construction projects beginning in the coming weeks statewide, drivers should use caution as they see more work zones, more lane closures and orange cones – and most importantly more workers wearing their high visibility safety gear along the highway,” Daubenberger said.
“We’re all safer when we pay close attention, slow down, remain patient and work together to safely share the limited space in a work zone.”
Several highly trafficked routes in the Twin Cities will see significant work this year:
Across outstate Minnesota, residents and travelers can expect key projects such as:

For those planning road trips, daily commutes, or long-haul travel this year, MnDOT's 2025 project slate promises improved infrastructure—but will require patience, attention, and caution from all who share Minnesota’s roadways.
