NANA Regional Corporation has completed the acquisition of substantially all assets of Drake Construction, a Kotzebue-based general contractor known for its long-standing presence in Western Alaska. The move strengthens NANA’s construction and infrastructure portfolio while expanding its ability to deliver complex projects across remote and challenging environments.

Drake Construction brings decades of experience in general contracting, civil infrastructure, utility systems, aggregate production, and marine logistics. NANA said these capabilities closely align with and enhance its existing construction, engineering, and facilities operations, creating a more comprehensive service offering for public and private sector clients.
“Welcoming the Drake Construction team and capabilities into the NANA family significantly enhances our ability to serve our clients and the region,” says NANA President and CEO John Lincoln. “Their proven track record and deep local knowledge align with our mission to drive sustainable economic growth and improve the quality of life for our shareholders and strengthen our communities. This acquisition is a powerful step forward in building long-term value for our shareholders.”

Founded in 1968, Drake Construction has built a reputation for delivering essential infrastructure projects throughout Western Alaska, including airports, roads, water and sewer systems, and marine infrastructure. With the acquisition complete, NANA and Drake Construction together will offer end-to-end contracting services, supporting projects from early planning and design through full construction and turnkey delivery.
“Joining NANA opens the door to new opportunities for our team and the communities we serve,” says Toby Drake, president of Drake Construction. “With NANA’s resources and shared values, we’re better positioned than ever to take on complex projects that matter. We’re proud to continue our legacy of building in the region with even greater impact.”
NANA noted that the acquisition further strengthens its ability to serve energy, commercial, natural resources, and federal markets, while reinforcing the Alaska Native regional corporation’s long-term commitment to infrastructure development across the region. The company said the transaction also reflects a broader strategy focused on diversification, sustainability, and community-driven economic development, particularly in rural Alaska.
With Drake Construction’s local expertise combined with NANA’s scale and resources, the corporation said it is positioned to deliver greater value to clients while supporting economic opportunities for shareholders and communities throughout Western Alaska.
