Hartford’s North Main Street Utility Work Stays on Track

HARTFORD — The City of Hartford says its major roadway and utility reconstruction project on North Main Street, north of Yellowstone Drive, remains on schedule and is moving into the next phase.

In an update shared Monday, city officials announced that installation of the sanitary sewer main is now complete, and crews began water main construction last week. While progress continues, the road will stay closed to through traffic, and residents are asked to follow the marked detour.

Utility work has also started in the nearby Copper Trails Subdivision. The city said this includes connecting the new subdivision to the freshly extended sanitary sewer line on North Main Street.

The overall goal of the improvements is to expand necessary utilities for Copper Trails while also boosting safety for drivers exiting onto Main Street from Yellowstone Road and the Pheasant Run subdivision.

According to the city, the North Main Street project is expected to wrap up by the end of August — but, as with any construction effort, delays may shift the timeline.

  • The Copper Trails Subdivision will add new homes to the area, requiring modern sewer and water infrastructure.
  • Local businesses and commuters should expect detours and plan extra travel time until work is finished.
  • The city encourages drivers to stay patient, obey posted detours, and check for updates as crews continue the final phases of the project this summer.
