The City of Colorado Springs announced Monday that both eastbound and westbound lanes of Garden of the Gods Road, east of Interstate 25, will be impacted overnight on Tuesday and Wednesday. The closures are part of ongoing construction work to install new traffic signals near the intersections of Northpark Drive and Mark Dabling Boulevard.

According to the city, the planned lane closures will take place overnight, beginning at 8 p.m. on Wednesday and continuing until 5 a.m. on Thursday. While lanes will be reduced during these hours, at least one lane in each direction will remain open to maintain traffic flow.

City officials said the overnight work is a continuation of existing daytime construction conditions and is scheduled during nighttime hours to minimize disruption for daytime commuters. Motorists traveling through the area can expect to see safety barriers, heavy equipment, artificial lighting and workers on foot while construction is underway.

The city is urging drivers to slow down and use extra caution when traveling through the construction zone. Temporary traffic control measures and signage will be in place to guide vehicles through the area and help ensure the safety of both workers and the public.

Officials said the project includes the installation of new traffic signals designed to make the corridor safer for both drivers and pedestrians. Once completed, the upgrades are expected to improve traffic operations and reduce potential conflict points at nearby intersections.

Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time, remain alert, and follow posted signs while overnight construction continues on Garden of the Gods Road.
