The construction industry's ability to recruit, retain, and develop skilled professionals remains a priority for owners and contractors facing ongoing workforce challenges. Against that backdrop, Turner Construction has received national recognition for its workplace initiatives supporting women, marking its third consecutive appearance on Forbes' list of America's Best Employers for Women.
The annual recognition reflects employee feedback on workplace experience and highlights organizations that provide career development opportunities, workplace flexibility, and support programs designed to strengthen workforce participation.
Turner Construction has continued to invest in programs intended to support women's career growth across corporate and field operations. The company maintains a global Women's Network Employee Resource Group with 41 local chapters that provide mentoring, networking opportunities, professional development, and peer engagement.
The contractor also operates a Women's Superintendent Network aimed at increasing opportunities for women pursuing field leadership positions. In addition, Turner offers leadership development resources and benefits that support employees through different stages of their careers.
Employee support programs include maternity and family leave, fertility and adoption assistance, preventive health services, cancer screenings, and maternity care resources designed to improve workforce retention and employee well-being.
Forbes developed the rankings through an independent survey of employees working at U.S. companies with at least 1,000 employees. Only responses submitted by women were included in the evaluation.
Survey participants assessed employers across several workplace categories, including flexibility, compensation equity, parental leave, career advancement, family support, workplace representation, and policies related to discrimination. Representation of women in executive leadership and on corporate boards also contributed to the overall evaluation.
Construction companies continue to expand workforce strategies as labor availability remains a key industry concern. Recognition for inclusive workplace practices may help contractors strengthen recruitment efforts, improve employee retention, and broaden access to leadership opportunities within the industry. For construction owners and project stakeholders, organizations investing in long-term workforce development can contribute to greater organizational stability and project delivery capacity.
