As labor shortages continue challenging the construction industry, contractors are expanding investments in workforce development and community partnerships aimed at preparing future talent pipelines. Pepper Construction is advancing that strategy in Ohio through its ongoing partnership with Junior Achievement of Central Ohio.
The contractor recently supported Junior Achievement’s annual Casino Night fundraiser, an event designed to raise funding for programs focused on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and workforce readiness education for students throughout the region.

Held in Central Ohio, the event brought together business leaders, contractors, trade partners, and community organizations to support career-focused educational initiatives that connect students with real-world workforce opportunities.
Junior Achievement said its programs reached more than 50,000 students across 71 school districts in central and southeastern Ohio during the past year. The organization focuses on helping students build practical skills tied to career planning, financial management, and emerging workplace demands.
Pepper Construction’s involvement extends beyond sponsorship activities. The company also supported the development of Junior Achievement’s second Learning Center in Newark, Ohio, including work tied to the organization’s BizTown and Finance Park educational environments.
The facility provides immersive learning experiences designed to expose students to business operations, financial decision-making, and career pathways through hands-on activities.
Construction firms across the country are increasingly aligning with workforce education organizations as the industry faces ongoing skilled labor shortages, aging workforce demographics, and rising demand for technical and trade-related careers.
Industry leaders say partnerships between contractors, schools, and nonprofit organizations are becoming essential to long-term workforce sustainability. Many firms are now investing in apprenticeship programs, career awareness initiatives, mentorship opportunities, and community-based education programs to attract younger workers into construction and related industries.
For construction owners and developers, stronger workforce pipelines can help improve labor availability, reduce project delays, and support long-term market capacity as demand for infrastructure, healthcare, industrial, and multifamily construction continues growing.
Pepper Construction said its partnership with Junior Achievement aligns with the company’s broader commitment to community investment and educational support initiatives throughout the Midwest.
The company noted that collaborative industry efforts can help prepare students for evolving career opportunities while strengthening regional economic mobility and workforce readiness.
