Home builders and subcontractors across Southern Nevada have launched a newly expanded political action committee aimed at influencing state and local elections amid ongoing housing affordability challenges.

The Southern Nevada Home Builders PAC (SNHB PAC), formed by members of the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association, begins operations with more than $700,000 in cash on hand and a goal of raising $1 million by the November general election.
The bipartisan PAC says it will support candidates who understand housing attainability and the critical role residential construction plays in meeting the region’s growing demand for homes.
For the first time, the PAC formally unites homebuilders and subcontractor companies under a single political advocacy effort. Leadership says the goal is to create a stronger, more coordinated presence in Nevada’s policy discussions.
“Housing attainability is one of the defining challenges facing Nevada families, and the answer starts with building more homes,” said Aaron Hirschi, president of the SNHB PAC and Regional General Manager of KB Home. “Our new PAC gives home builders – partnered with subcontractor companies for the first time – a focused, credible way to support candidates who are ready to expand supply, reduce barriers to responsible development, and keep the dream of homeownership within reach for working Nevadans.”
Next month, the SNHB PAC board — comprised of representatives from homebuilder and subcontractor firms — will begin interviewing and evaluating candidates. Reviews will focus on policy platforms, voting records and positions tied to development regulations, land use, fees, labor issues and housing supply.
Beyond endorsements, the PAC has signaled it is prepared to actively oppose candidates or ballot measures viewed as harmful to the residential construction industry.
Industry leaders say the early fundraising success positions the PAC to engage earlier in election cycles, when messaging and financial support can have the greatest impact.
“We’re standing up a strong PAC that can compete early and strategically in Nevada’s political process,” said Tina Frias, CEO of the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association. “We’re positioned to financially support candidates who agree with our objectives and prioritize the viability of Nevada’s residential construction industry.”
The group’s expanded structure reflects mounting concern among builders about regulatory costs, land constraints, infrastructure demands and policy decisions that can directly influence housing production timelines and pricing.

In addition to campaign contributions, SNHB PAC says it will promote community initiatives that highlight the economic and workforce contributions of the homebuilding industry. Leaders describe the effort as both defensive and proactive — protecting industry interests while advocating policies that increase housing supply.
Southern Nevada continues to face pressure from population growth, in-migration and limited attainable housing options. Builders argue that policy alignment between local governments and the private sector is essential to increasing production and stabilizing prices.
By formalizing a larger, better-funded political arm, the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association is signaling a more assertive role in shaping housing policy debates during the upcoming election cycle — with the stated objective of ensuring residential construction remains central to Nevada’s economic strategy.
