Thomas Concrete Group’s U.S. subsidiary, Thomas Concrete Inc., has delivered 21,350 cubic yards of low-carbon concrete for the construction of a large distribution center in Florence.
The Florence Distribution Center spans more than 35,800 square meters and was completed under a highly demanding schedule, with multiple contractors working simultaneously.
To maintain continuous supply and meet strict timelines, three divisions — Upstate, Charlotte and Charleston — collaborated on deliveries. Two on-site concrete plants in Florence further ensured sufficient production capacity and flexibility throughout the project.
The coordinated effort proved essential in keeping construction on track despite complex logistics and parallel workflows.
“Collaboration, innovation and careful planning have gone hand in hand to meet one of the most demanding schedules on the market,” said Chad Dyson, Area Sales Manager at Thomas Concrete in the United States.
The project utilized Thomagreen, the company’s low-carbon concrete with a reduced carbon footprint. Each contractor involved required customized concrete mixes and project-specific technical solutions, making detailed coordination of production and logistics critical.
In addition to mix adaptations, the project required special material handling processes and temperature control during casting. Concrete placement took place under both extreme summer heat and winter cold, further increasing complexity.
Concrete work at the Florence Distribution Center was completed during the autumn, and the facility was handed over to the client, Cheney Brothers, at the end of December last year.
