The University of Nevada, Reno has officially opened the John Tulloch Business Building, a state-of-the-art facility that now serves as the new home for the College of Business. The 128,000-square-foot building is a milestone for both the University and the region, designed to connect the campus more closely with the heart of Reno while strengthening Nevada’s economic future.

“This transformational project connects the University and downtown Reno, sparking new energy and opportunities for our region,” said University President Brian Sandoval. “It opens campus to the heart of the city, reflecting our commitment to research, innovation and the shared future we’re building together.”

Developed by Edgemoor Infrastructure & Real Estate in partnership with LMN Architects and Clark Construction Group, the building was completed on time and within budget. It expands the University’s Mathewson Gateway District, further enhancing Reno’s downtown corridor.

Inside, the facility offers modern learning environments including state-of-the-art classrooms, collaborative study lounges, a 300-seat auditorium, and a high-tech finance lab equipped with real-time stock market data. Students also gain access to a new career development center, a student commons, and dedicated office space for faculty and staff.

“This is more than a building — it’s a collaborative space where students connect with business leaders from around the globe, here in our own community,” said College of Business Dean Greg Mosier. “Together with educators, researchers, entrepreneurs, and industry experts, our students will shape ideas and drive initiatives that strengthen Nevada’s economy and ensure a future of opportunity.”

The Tulloch Building also houses outreach programs that support entrepreneurship and innovation, including the Ozmen Center for Entrepreneurship, the E.L. Cord Foundation Student Success Center, and the Nevada Business Center. These programs will serve as a bridge between students, the local business community, and global industry leaders.

The project has already gained recognition, winning the P3 Bulletin Award for Best Education & Higher Education Project last year. The development team emphasized local engagement, with over 70% of the project’s value awarded to Northern Nevada firms. More than 1,500 workers and 75 local companies contributed, providing a significant boost to the regional economy.

“I would like to commend the University of Nevada, Reno for its forward-thinking approach to this project,” said Donald Gibson, Managing Director of Edgemoor Infrastructure & Real Estate. “It has been a truly collaborative process from the beginning. Thanks to our partners at the University and the incredible efforts of the entire development team, we are proud that this project has come to fruition and will make such a lasting impact on the Northern Nevada region. We are thrilled to see the students and faculty enjoying their beautiful space and can’t wait to see the business innovations that take place here in the years to come.”

In addition to its academic and economic impact, the building was designed with sustainability at its core. It is on track for LEED Gold certification, incorporating energy-efficient technologies such as natural daylight harvesting, advanced insulation systems, and landscape features with more than 30% site vegetation coverage.

With the opening of the John Tulloch Business Building, the University of Nevada, Reno has established a new hub that will foster collaboration between students, faculty, and the business community, while also symbolizing the University’s growing role as a driver of regional innovation and opportunity.
