Valentine Auction Building Sold to Expanding Local Construction Firm

VALENTINE, Neb. — A familiar Valentine landmark will soon be taking on a new role in the local business community. Connot Brothers Auction is preparing to hand over the keys to its building at 329 E 1st St to B Squared Fine Homes, a growing construction company that’s quickly making its mark in the area.
Connot Brothers Auction has hosted numerous sales events at the location for years, making it a go-to venue for community members looking for unique finds and estate deals. But owner Dennis Connot says the company is evolving. Rather than continue to host auctions at the downtown site, they’re shifting operations directly into the community—bringing future sales to ranches, estates, and private homes.

“Our heart is still very attached to auctions,” said Connot. “The love of auctions will continue. Valentine has treated us well.”
The company plans to hold one final auction at the building on June 14, after which ownership will officially pass to B Squared Fine Homes. The construction firm, run by Kerry Bukaske and his two sons, has experienced steady growth since launching five years ago. The new building will provide space for equipment storage, design consultations, and even indoor construction work during colder seasons.
“The new space is going to be a great addition,” said Kerry. “It will help us better serve our clients and give us the flexibility we need for year-round work.”
The building will also serve as a design and budgeting hub—something made even more feasible thanks to the recent addition of Kerry’s son Trey, who joined the company after earning a degree in design and drafting from Wayne State College.
“We can now take projects from design to final finish, which is very exciting,” Kerry added.
Trevor, Kerry’s other son, is also part of the team. Together, the family-run business has built a reputation for delivering high-quality custom homes and remodels across Cherry County and the surrounding region.
As one longstanding business prepares to say goodbye to its old home, another is preparing to grow within it—offering a seamless example of small-town transition and economic momentum.
“This is a win-win for everyone involved,” said Connot. “We’re grateful for the memories here, and we’re excited to see what B Squared does with the space.”
