Dynamic Group Acquires Cycle Construction to Build One of Gulf Coast’s Largest Civil Construction and Disaster Response Firms

BATON ROUGE, La. — Dynamic Group has completed its acquisition of Cycle Construction Company, a move that significantly expands its heavy civil construction and disaster response capabilities across the Gulf Coast.

The transaction brings together two Louisiana-based firms with complementary expertise in infrastructure, emergency response and large-scale public works, forming one of the region’s most comprehensive construction and recovery service providers.

Cycle Construction, headquartered in Kenner, Louisiana, will continue operating under its existing name and leadership while becoming part of Dynamic’s holding company structure. The firm has more than 50 years of experience in heavy civil construction, including pile driving, marine construction, demolition and underground utilities.

Acquisition Expands Civil Construction and Emergency Response Services

The acquisition broadens Dynamic’s service offerings across both public- and private-sector clients, enhancing its ability to deliver complex infrastructure and disaster recovery projects.

Cycle Construction has played a significant role in major emergency response efforts, including work following Hurricane Katrina. The company was deployed the day after the storm struck in 2005, performing pump station repairs, emergency levee work and debris removal. In the years that followed, it completed 70 reconstruction and response projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Dynamic, which has 24 years of experience in construction and disaster recovery, has managed federally funded programs serving more than 30,000 families and protecting communities from natural disasters nationwide.

Together, the companies will offer expanded capabilities in areas such as flood protection, transportation infrastructure, port development, water and wastewater systems, and environmental construction.

“This acquisition brings decades of heavy construction experience and capabilities to Dynamic's clients,” said Josh McCoy, owner and chairman of Dynamic. “The Kernion family and the Cycle team have built a best-in-class operation, and we look forward to expanding the resources available to our clients across the region.”

Combined Expertise Positions Firms for Regional Growth

The deal also strengthens Dynamic’s position in the Gulf Coast market, where demand for resilient infrastructure and disaster preparedness continues to grow.

Cycle Construction’s portfolio includes levees, floodwalls, pump stations and large-scale site development projects across Louisiana and Mississippi. By integrating these capabilities, Dynamic aims to provide a broader suite of services to government agencies and private clients.

“This transaction marks an important next chapter for Cycle Construction,” said Jonathan Kernion, CEO of Cycle Construction. “This acquisition will provide additional resources for our team, give our clients a broader set of construction solutions, and set the stage for future growth. I believe the companies share a long-term approach and a strong commitment to the markets we serve.”

The acquisition follows leadership changes at Dynamic, including the appointment of Zach Butterworth as CEO in September 2025, with McCoy transitioning to chairman.

“We are excited to welcome the team at Cycle Construction to the Dynamic Family. The acquisition expands our capabilities across heavy civil construction across the Gulf Coast,” said Zach Butterworth, CEO of Dynamic. “Cycle Construction's in-house capabilities in pile driving, earthwork, marine and dock construction, underground utilities, demolition, drainage systems, and debris removal complement Dynamic's existing team. Together, we expect to offer a broader range of services to government and business leaders across the region.”

Industry observers note that consolidation in the civil construction sector is accelerating as firms seek to scale capabilities and respond to increasing infrastructure investment and climate resilience needs.

With this acquisition, Dynamic and Cycle Construction are positioned to pursue larger, more complex projects while strengthening disaster response readiness across the Gulf Coast.
