JRM Construction Management has completed a significant facility expansion for The School of American Ballet (SAB) at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, delivering new wellness-focused spaces designed to support the physical, academic, and personal needs of the school’s students.

New Wellness Center Expands Training and Student Support

The newly completed Artistic Health and Wellness Student Center occupies 5,300 square feet of newly acquired space located one floor above SAB’s existing headquarters in the Samuel B. and David Rose Building at 70 Lincoln Center Plaza in Manhattan. The expansion supports SAB’s growing programming and reinforces the institution’s commitment to student health and wellbeing within one of the world’s most prestigious performing arts campuses.

Project Enhances Connectivity Within Lincoln Center Campus

Designed to enhance training and injury prevention, the new student center features a strength and conditioning studio alongside a dedicated Pilates studio, offering intermediate and advanced students access to specialized environments that support technique development, physical conditioning, and performance longevity. As part of the project, JRM also constructed a new internal feature staircase, creating a seamless connection between the school’s fifth-floor reception area and the new sixth-floor facilities.

In addition to training spaces, the expansion includes a student commons area for relaxation and social interaction, quiet study rooms, a pantry, and ADA-compliant restrooms, creating a balanced environment that supports both academic focus and daily comfort. JRM also delivered staff offices and physical therapy suites, ensuring students have convenient access to instruction, rehabilitation, and wellness services on site.

“We’re honored to support The School of American Ballet with an expansion that strengthens their mission and enhances the student experience,” said Joseph P. Romano, CEO, JRM Construction Management. “Our team took great care in delivering spaces that seamlessly integrate training, learning, and student support within this iconic Lincoln Center setting.”

The completed project reflects JRM’s experience executing complex renovations within active, high-profile cultural institutions, where precision, coordination, and sensitivity to ongoing operations are critical. The expansion positions SAB to continue supporting elite ballet training while prioritizing student health and long-term performance in a modernized, purpose-built environment.
